Seattle Activists Submit Formal Demand to School Board: “Get Gender Identity Ideology Out of Our Schools”
A hardy band of gender critics has delivered a Demand for Action to the Seattle School Board, calling for an end to the promotion of Gender Identity Ideology in Seattle Schools. On Wednesday, September 27, in the heart of Kool-Aid-drenched Seattle, we stood up and declared that the Gender Identity Emperor has no clothes. We insisted that curricula and policies that promote Gender Ideology must be immediately rescinded.
We have no illusions about the thoroughly captured Seattle School Board acting in the public interest on this issue any time soon in response to our Demand. (A second article to follow will describe the Board’s outrageous behavior at Wednesday’s meeting.) But laying down the gauntlet in a place like Seattle is an important step forward. We have put on record the fact that there are plenty of people even here, from across the political spectrum, who are appalled by what’s happening in the schools. And organizing for Wednesday’s action has significantly expanded our local network of dissenting voices. It has sent up a flare letting other rational people know that there is a Resistance.
To turn things around in Seattle, we will need an entirely new School Board as well as major changes in all elected offices on up through the U.S. Presidency. Litigation will also likely be key.
Whatever our next actions, our top priority here in Seattle will continue to be building our resistance movement by steadily and patiently spreading the word about what’s going on. Most people recognize Gender Identity Ideology as madness once they become aware of its teachings and consequences. Most people agree that major change is essential once they realize that indoctrination of school children and others in our society is truly aggressive and ubiquitous. At some point, perhaps fairly soon, even in Seattle, we will reach a critical mass of people willing to stand up together to say no to the madness. The bullies that currently control the agenda will no longer hold power. When we begin to stand up together in large numbers—such as people did in cities across Canada last week—Gender Identity Ideology will topple swiftly.
The organizing work we’re doing bears on more than ending the scourge of Gender Identity. We have already begun to discuss, within new Gender Identity-fighting alliances, other issues where madness prevails. Those discussions must continue and expand. Why and how was something as irrational and destructive as Gender Identity Ideology able to take over? Why and how do average people have such little control regarding other major issues affecting our lives? Why is it that a few individuals and corporations hold the wealth and the reins, rendering democracy a distant dream? The forbidden working-class alliances we are forging in the context of Gender Identity, as we defy the solidarity-crushing dictates of cancel culture, are key to solving the major problems that plague humanity.
The materials we produced for the Seattle School Board are intended as resources for people everywhere who are challenging Gender Identity indoctrination in the schools. Please, use them, and share them widely, and let us know of your actions elsewhere. Here are links to key documents:
1. Our Demand for Action To the Seattle School Board: Get Gender Identity Ideology Out of Our Schools
2. Appendix A. Gender Identity Indoctrination in the Seattle Public Schools. Overview and Examples
While this document lays out how Gender Identity Ideology is imposed on children in Seattle schools, it will be of use to people in other school districts as well. The same or similar materials are used in vast numbers of schools throughout the U.S. and beyond.
3. Appendix B. Background and Documentation, For Statements Made in the Demand for Action.
This large and comprehensive appendix provides valuable data and links for gender critics to use. There’s a lot of new data that was not included in my prior reports, such as data on numbers of children identifying as trans and undergoing pediatric sex change medicalization; information on polls related to public opinion on these issues; and data on high rates of comorbidities among trans-identifying children.
4. News Release Regarding our Demand for Action
On the morning of the School Board meeting, trans “rights” activists found out that people critical of Seattle’s Gender Identity curricula and policies had signed up to speak. Unable to get us bumped off the Public Comment list, and limited in the attacks they could mount against us in our personal lives on short notice, the TRAs focused on signing up in droves to denounce us. And they made sure that the captured School Board was ready to denounce us as well through lengthy statements by Board members and the School District Superintendent, thoroughly maligning us, before we had even had our 2 minutes each to speak.
To do justice to how horrendous the Board’s behavior was, I will produce a second article shortly. I believe it will be of use to people fighting the imposition of Gender Ideology elsewhere, as I will be naming and discussing the manipulative tactics used against us. Publicizing the actions of gender ideologues is one of the most effective tools we have for “peaking” people, i.e. helping them realize what Gender Identity Ideology is all about and the importance of opposing its imposition on children and others. For a preview, here’s a link to the School Board’s video recording of the Wednesday Board meeting. The relevant portion of the meeting runs from approximately minute mark 4:03 to minute mark 1:46:00.
Below is the statement I made at the Seattle Board Meeting on September 27th:
Statement of Carol Dansereau, To the Seattle School Board, September 27, 2023
My name is Carol Dansereau, and I am here to deliver a Demand For Action, to stop the promotion of Gender Identity Ideology in Seattle Schools.
Those fighting the imposition of that ideology on children, including those presenting this Demand, come from across the political spectrum. There are plenty of left-wingers like me.
It is not okay to present children with blatantly false information about biology. There is nothing acceptable about telling them that some people are born in the wrong body, sex has nothing to do with anatomy, and men give birth.
It is not okay to promote sexist stereotypes, undercut safeguarding, and encourage children to dissociate from their bodies.
We are outraged that Seattle schools force children to embrace Gender Identity’s mystical mantras and absurd new meanings for key words. We are outraged that it forces them to disregard the evidence of their own eyes, engage in compelled speech, and forfeit their rights to sex-based privacy and female-only sports.
We are appalled that via misguided Affirmation Only policies, teachers are locking vulnerable children into dissociation from their bodies, leading skyrocketing numbers to medicalization. Multiple systematic reviews have firmly established that pediatric sex change is not evidence-based. There is no there, there, regarding supposed mental health benefits, but the harm to children is well-established and massive.
Seattle schools are complicit in one of the most horrific medical scandals of all time.
I’ve prepared packets for each of you that contain the Demand for Action, an Appendix that lays out what’s being taught, and an Appendix that provides documentation for everything we say.
The promotion of Gender Ideology in Seattle schools….the imposition of this belief system on Seattle’s children…. is hurting enrollment and creates major liability. The School Board needs to act immediately because of these realities, but more importantly, because children deserve better. Gender Ideology is an anti-science, child-harming, civil rights-destroying, homophobia-elevating deception. It is more than time to stop promoting it in our schools.

Kudos to Carol for her hard work on this. This is an important battle and it may hopefully serve as a model for similar struggles elsewhere. The resources in the appendices are superb! Thank you!
