What I Said as the Gender Identity Mob Attacked Us

In my last post, I described the madness of what happened in Port Townsend, Washington on August 15th. If you watched the live stream video you saw my speech, but the hooligans that attacked us made it hard to make out what I was saying. Which dramatically illustrated one of my main points: Gender Identity Ideology is deeply coercive. It is a destructive authoritarian Cult, and the sooner others on the left realize this, the better.

My name is Carol Dansereau and I stand with Julie Jaman. Girls and women, boys and men, have a right to sex-segretated spaces. And the YMCA and the City are not trying to abolish sex-based spaces. They are claiming that sex-based spaces exist and that only women are entering the Women’s Room. How do they do this? The magic of Gender Identity Ideology.

A core tenet of this Ideology is that we need to redefine vital words like “man” and “woman.” We’re supposed to toss away objective, science-based definitions, replacing them with shifting subjective ones based in feelings and declarations. Thus, a “woman” becomes anyone who “identifies” as a woman. That is absurd. It is obviously circular. It obviously makes the word “woman” meaningless.

Nonetheless, I staunchly defend the right of every individual to believe what they want including Gender Ideology and its definitions. Unlike these people here [the mob seeking to silence us] I defend their right, their right of belief.

But there’s another aspect of Gender Ideology that we are seeing here today and that is that everyone has to believe their Ideology. The other tenet is everybody has to go along with their definitions. And if you don’t…if you don’t go along with the new definitions that are irrational, you will be called “hateful”, “violent”, “a bigot,” and worse. You will be canceled: you will be fired from your job, you will face crowds like this that show that this is at heart a deeply coercive ideology. Gender Identity Ideology is deeply coercive.

It has wrapped itself in noble causes. The fight against sexism has been hijacked to advance a deeply misogynistic agenda and sexist stereotypes. The struggles of gays and lesbians have been coopted to promote mindsets and policies that do grave harm to gays and lesbians. Disorders of Sexual Development have been shamelessly misrepresented to create a false aura of science around a decidedly anti-science ideology.

Gender Ideology is deeply exploitative, suppressive, and regressive. And what’s happening here today is vitally important.

Julie Jaman was banned from swimming at the Y for not being a member of the Gender Faithful. She was banned for failing to agree to these wacko definitions that a man is a woman. She was banned for refusing to be a doormat obediently trading away a rational definition for an irrational one. And this [the mob attacking us] shows you what this ideology is about. It is about coercion and irrationality.

We need to stand with Julie Jaman. Stand for women-only spaces. Stand for freedom of speech. Stand against coerced belief.
