Women Dare to Speak Again at Seattle Library!

Gender Ideology is Not A Side Show.

In early 2020, I helped organize an event at the Seattle Public Library (SPL) entitled The New Misogyny. It was an early foray in women publicly expressing concerns about Gender Identity Ideology, sponsored by Women’s Liberation Front. Nearly five years later, on November 17, 2024, I participated in a Women’s Declaration International (WDI) event at SPL entitled Standing Up For Women and Girls in Washington. I am proud to have been one of the speakers.

Naturally, lots of protesters showed up, though I believe the number was smaller than in 2020. A couple I know were “pushed, shoved, blocked, and spit on by a screaming mob who tried to prevent us from entering the library.” Another acquaintance sent me a video of a masked woman shaking a can and spraying it at him. The contents turned out to be silly string rather than pepper spray fortunately. In the video, a police officer confronts the woman, and she comically insists that she didn’t spray anyone. In addition to intimidating and mocking individuals who were seeking to attend the event, the protesters chanted things like “TERFS GO HOME”

Only a couple of protesters bought tickets and were present inside the event, one of whom yelled “Liar” during my speech. Elaborate security measures were taken to deliver me and the other speakers to the event secretly and safely, and to covertly whisk us away afterwards. As a veteran of attacks by angry mobs at other gender critical gatherings, I am very grateful to the event organizers, library security personnel, and the Seattle police for keeping us safe.

The event was held on the eve of a federal court hearing oral arguments in Seattle pertaining to the Olympus Spa case. That case involves a local woman-only spa owned and operated by a Korean-American family which has been forced to allow males to use their facilities. The spa is fondly referred to as “the naked lady spa” because of the fact that girls and women who use it sit naked in hot tubs and saunas. Now we can expect to have a naked man next to us. The women who work there providing body scrubs and other services must now provide these services to men.

I am introduced at 56:36, and my 10 minute speech follows that introduction. Below is a transcript of my speech. I talked about the evisceration of women’s rights underway such as in sports, indoctrination in the schools, the atrocity of pediatric sex change, and why gender ideology is not a minor side issue.

The other speakers included Kara Danksy (on the Olympus Spa case and the importance of women-only spaces), Susanna Keilman (on spas, Korean culture, and the impact of the spa case on local businesses), April Morrow was ill but her statement was read by Irene Lawrence and focused on males in female prisons, Amy Sousa (on body image/body dissociation, gender clinics and the harms of the DSM diagnosis), and Elle Palmer (on her experiences transitioning and detransitioning.) WDI President Elizabeth Chesak introduced the event and the speakers, and served as moderator.

MY SPEECH: GENDER IDEOLOGY: A DEVASTATING CENTRAL ISSUE OF OUR DAY

The people who want to silence us belong to a belief system known as “Gender Identity Ideology.”  It’s based on the insane idea that what sex you are, should have nothing to do with your sexual anatomy.  So a woman isn’t someone born with ovaries, for example.  It’s anyone who says they’re a woman, including men. 

If this were a matter of people merely wanting to be free to believe about themselves whatever they want, there wouldn’t be a problem. Most gender critics strongly believe in “Live and let live.”  Trans activists, however, insist that everyone must abide by their faith, agreeing that men are women and vice versa, and forfeiting rights accordingly.  Their ideology is being imposed everywhere.

WOMEN’S RIGHTS.

This a disaster for women’s rights.  We no longer have the female-only spaces we fought for.  There are men in our rape shelters, prisons, spas, locker rooms, you name it. There are men in women-only organizations, such as support groups for female conditions like endometriosis.  I am not making this up.

There are men in women’s sports, despite obvious massive male advantage.  Look at the website boysvswomen.com which compares the records of the world’s top female athletes with those of high school boys, who can defeat those women in droves.  Men are stealing women’s records, titles, and spots in all sorts of sports, at every level.  

Even partial tallies tracked by websites like HeCheated.org are staggering.   When last I checked there were over 9000 examples of males in female sporting events, documented there, with over 5000 instances of males taking 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rdplace trophies away from women.  Here in Washington State at the high school level, a boy skewed results in the girls’ cross-country state championship meet in Pasco last fall, unjustly elevating his team on the podium.  In May of this year, a boy stole 1^st place from girls in the 400-meter race at the state track championship meet in Tacoma.  Also, in May, a boy stole 1^st place from girls in the 1600-meter race at the Junior Olympics in Cashmere, coming in 7 seconds ahead of the real winner.  It is everywhere.  

SCHOOLS

One of the ways that gender ideologues have succeeded in forcing their ideology down our throats, is through their take-over of K through 12 schools. 

Picture books are read to children that say it’s up to them to decide whether they’re boys, girls or “something else.”  That “being yourself” may entail rejecting or even maiming your body.  School policies allow the opposite sex in bathrooms and locker rooms, and boys in girls’ sports.  Gender Identity units teach children the incoherent definitions and tenets of that faith.

Teachers are told to avoid terms like “woman”, using terms like “person with a vulva” instead.  In units on Sexual Anatomy and Reproduction, they make a point of not being clear about which anatomy and which sexual functions go with which sex.  Children are emerging from schools believing that men give birth.  And this is the outcome schools INTEND.

Currently, at least 12 million U.S. children, in 1000s of districts across at least 37 states, attend schools where teachers are required to keep parents who have doubts about gender ideology in the dark about their children’s at-school transitions.   

Aggressive indoctrination is underway across the U.S. and beyond.

HARM TO CHILDREN.

There’s so much I could say about the harm being done to all children.  But given time limits, I’ll jump to the children who are hurt most.

Schools are shepherding them into the unspeakable harm of pediatric sex change.  No words can express how horrifying this is. 

Every person should recoil instinctively from the idea of doctors blocking the puberty of healthy children, giving them cross sex hormones, cutting off girls’ breasts, and subjecting some children to genital surgeries. Every person should realize that promising a child something they can never ever have—the body of the opposite sex—is one of the cruelest things you could possibly do.

The harm from so-called medical “affirmation” is shocking.  If you stunt or remove children’s sexual anatomy, they can never get it back.  Infertility, sexual dysfunction, osteoporosis, cardio-pulmonary problems, and so much more result from pediatric sex change. 

Gender clinicians claim that what they’re doing is fine, because it supposedly improves children’s mental health and prevents suicides.  But multiple systematic reviews have concluded that this assertion is not backed by credible evidence. And the corruption of the pediatric sex change industry has been made crystal clear by whistleblowers and documents obtained via discovery in litigation.

Seattle school officials say that between 7 and 13% of children in the middle and high school grades they’ve surveyed identify as trans or gender-questioning.  In some U.S. schools the percentage is even higher.  The CDC recently reported that 3.3% of US high school students identify as trans, and another 2.2% question their gender identity. 

Not long ago there were no pediatric sex clinics in the U.S.  Now there are hundreds.   Every clinic around the world has seen exponential increases in the number of children medicalized each year.

Over 17,000 children in the U.S. were subjected to puberty blockers and/or cross-sex hormones from 2017 through 2021; Over 5,700 U.S. children underwent mastectomies or other sex change surgeries from 2019 through 2023.  These numbers come from reviews of partial data. They are only a small part of the full picture.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

Some people continue to have no clue about the harms done by Gender Ideology.  Others have started to say things like “Well, if bad things are happening, they’re rare.  Besides, we need to focus on more important issues.”

As data shared tonight attests, damage from gender ideology isn’t rare at all. 

And yes, there are other problems in the world we must address… and I and other gender critics are active on those, too.   We don’t have to choose.  More importantly, if we care about those other issues, we can’t ignore Gender Ideology.  It is connected to everything.

This is not about token damage to a few people.

• It’s about the evisceration of fundamental rights of huge numbers of people, including the half of humanity that is female.  

• It is about one of the most horrifying medical scandals of all time.

THE SURREAL WORLD OF GENDER IDEOLOGY

Everything that’s happening on this—in the sports, in the women’s spaces, and what’s happening with kids—is happening in a context that can only be described as Orwellian.

Trans activists have the audacity to call their sexist evisceration of women’s rights the next stage of feminism. They say they’re advancing LGB rights as they destroy them. Their faces contorted with hatred as they yell at us and push us out of parks, their bizarre accusations belying bigotry beyond compare, they label us hateful and bigoted.

Trans activists claim that gender critics are attacking the rights of trans-identifying people and making them unsafe. Gender critics aren’t attacking anyone’s rights. We’re not endangering anyone. It is our rights that are under attack. It is we who are made unsafe by trans activists who assault us, get us fired, deprive us of children, and much more.

Most Orwellian of all is the erasure of what’s going. News stories don’t cover our concerns, or even make clear that self-proclaimed females are actually males. Women are told that the naked man next to us in the spa is a woman, as is the guy holding the sports trophy that should be ours. So, hey, female-only spaces and sports still are female-only. So we endure not only full-blown destruction of our rights, but also the pretense that it isn’t happening.

WHERE WE ARE NOW (Continued.)

This is not about token damage to a few people.

• It is about the evisceration of fundamental rights of huge numbers of people, including the half of humanity that is female.

• It is about one of the most horrifying medical scandals of all time.

• And failing to take responsibility for the mental health crisis and sexual abuse epidemic enveloping our children.  Instead of addressing the roots of their suffering, we are feeding them to Big Pharma for further abuse.  

• This is about oppression and draconian censorship. Precedents are being set via gender ideology, that destroy freedom of speech and assembly, hastening our descent into totalitarianism. 

• It’s about powerful forces showing just how completely they can control humanity: commandeering institutions we once relied on, and persuading us to deny reality, chant absurdities, and applaud atrocities.

• This is about destabilizing and demoralizing humanity by surrounding us with Orwellian narratives, punishing dissent, and depriving us of the loved ones and communities we need for security and joy. 

• Finally, this is about teaching people that fighting for justice means demonizing and fearing those who disagree with you, and forming mobs to get them canceled.  Gender Ideology undermines our ability to build the very movement we need to address the problems facing humanity.

So, no, Gender Ideology is not a minor side show. 

It is one of the central issues of our day and cannot be ignored.

We have an opportunity right now to rescind the curricula and policies that have imposed Gender Ideology.  But the forces we’re up against are powerful, and half-way measures could well be substituted for what is needed.  Unless we are organized and active.  

So, join the Resistance!  Together we can and we must end the regressive, civil-rights-eviscerating, child-maiming, sexist, homophobic, democracy-destroying nightmare of Gender Ideology.
